Religious Education
During this half term the children will be learning to…. Reconciliation The children will be answering our Big Question: Is it easier to forgive or to say sorry? The children will be given opportunities to say if they think forgiving is easy or hard to do. They will listen to and retell one of Jesus’ stories about forgiveness and answer questions about the feelings of characters in the stories and their own feelings. The children will also be making simple links between the stories and Jesus’ teaching about forgiveness giving a reason for a link. We will focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the children will need to explain in detail the order and importance. Vocabulary:

Mathematics During this half term the children will be learning to…. During this half term the children will be learning about fractions. In this topic, we will be looking at describing part-whole relationship and exploring unit fractions. Children will describe unit fractions with the explanation of understanding the fraction of denominator and numerator. Children will focus on non-unit fractions and consolidate their understanding of the language of numerator and denominator. They will find fractions of quantities in context using a variety of representations, including the use of a bar model. Children will begin to compare and order fractions with the same denominator. Children will apply this to compare unit fractions. Vocabulary: numerator, denominator, vinculum, whole part, sharing, equal, divide, compare, unit fractions, bar model.

This will be linked to climate change and plants. At the end of term, we will be going to Kew Gardens to end our inspirational Scientists topic. Religious Education During this half term children will be learning to… Our topic this half term is celebrating the mass. This topic is aimed to develop the children’s knowledge and understanding on why Easter Sunday is celebrated and how it is a special period of time for Catholics. Children will be looking at the re-enactment of the Last Supper and linking it to the Mass and giving descriptive reasons. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco – Pupils will become aware about that Medicines are drugs, but not all drugs are good for us. Alcohol and tobacco are harmful substances. Our body us created by God, so we should take care of the and be careful about what we consume.
